Happy 20th Anniversary to my youngest daughter,Jenni, and my son-in-law, Wayne Dougherty. I don't have any wedding pictures on my hard drive so I'll post this one taken at one of the kids' games a few years ago.
The sun is shining and I'm seriously thinking about pulling out my canvas lounge chair and sitting on the deck to soak up some sun. I did a little walking around the neighborhood this morning and LOVED the smell of fresh cut wood on the lot under construction nearby. Took me immediately back to the days when we'd go with dad out to his property to cut wood for our stoves.
Won't be much longer now and I'll be able to walk straight across to Jenni's house. I wonder if they're going to burn that huge pile of scrap. When I went to pick up the kids for school this morning, there's a mountain view that I come upon as I top this little road near my house. More than once, I've got out of my car to take a picture. Today was one of those. I need to get Mary and Andy to bring their really good camera over and take some shots for me. Mine doesn't do it justice.
those trees are Lincoln Park and the fairgrounds is to the left
This area is looking towards the airport
I watched a two-hour show I had taped (Country Music Awards by fan vote) and I ended up (as usual)
fast forwarding through most of it. All those skinny young boys in their tight jeans SOUND ALIKE.
I did listen to Lady Antebellum singing with Stevie Nicks. Turned that one up good and loud too. Excellent!
Loved seeing Merle Haggard but as usual, he got only a bit of air time. Didn't even sing. George Strait sang for him. Was kind of sad seeing Merle. He was (and still is) always a huge favorite with me. I had lots of his albums. And oh so cute!! Not now so much, though. Age changes things. I used to be better looking too but never at the level that Merle was cute. He's still cute to me, though. So is Bob Dylan and Sam Elliott. I always wanted to see Haggard in person but I don't think it's gonna happen. He appears in the Tacoma area now and then but it's too far for me to even consider. I'm thinking about writing my next Town Kid blog on the aging of my idols.
I drove down to Jenni's bank at noon and picked her up for lunch. We had Mickey D's and at it on the bluff overlooking the water. Gave us a chance to get caught up on our frustrations with doctor visits.
I got a bunch of clever photos in an email today called "timing is everything." If I can remember, I'll post them one by one as I blog. Here's the first..
And here's a short video about Marian Anderson...Lots of interesting history things on YouTube if you've got a yearn to know more. Fascinating.
