This Day in History: Edgar Allan Poe was born 1809. Albert Schweitzer was born 1875.
I set out all my various genealogy paperwork piles this morning intending to go very methodical and slow sorting through the files I have that need to be put in proper order and in many cases, discarded because of duplicate info. It's not going to be a quick fix, that's for sure, as I have a tendency to collect pieces of paper indiscriminately 'cause "I might need that." Ha!
My biggest pile is for the Blankenships, the family of most interest to me personally. My dad's mother's side of the family (The Holts) is also pretty thick as I found a ton of history about the Holts when I first started researching years ago. I met a few of my Holt cousins briefly a few years back but most have died that gave me info for my files on newer relatives. I keep hoping I'll connect with somebody in the family who is researching Holts so I can ID various pictures I've hung onto.
I wish I felt a little peppier but some days you just have to go with what you got. I'm determined to stick with this job although I think I'd be better off not rushing things and setting aside a couple hours a day (or more) and then moving on to another hobby. I moved my collection and laptop back out to the kitchen table so I could spread things out.
I do find myself getting easily distracted, though. Which is why I'm blogging now instead of filing sheets of paper. Love that I can push things aside and continue later at my own pace. I may have to rearrange later this weekend, though. Am expecting three 500-piece jigsaw puzzles to arrive. I set up a 1000-pc right after the first of the year and after getting the edges done, I realized the puzzle was too hard and I wasn't in the mood.
I took it apart and set up a second 1000-piece. Got the edges done and decided it too, was too hard! I kept going out to the garage and looking over my piles of puzzle boxes trying to choose 'cause I really did want to have a puzzle set up. I finally came to the realization that I needed easier puzzles. Having Amazon Prime with free shipping has been a real inviting ticket....but I better get a handle on that or I'll be sorry.
I went over to pick the kids up to take them to high school but went a little earlier than usual so Hunter could come back and change a light bulb for me. Hate it that I couldn't do it myself but the light is so high over the table that I'd have to climb up onto the table to access it. I'm not real keen on climbing these days.
I set my VCR for two shows tomorrow on CBS. The Price is Right and Let's Make a Deal. Mary Gaboury and friends from Yuma went to the shows last year and they just got notified they'll be aired tomorrow. She didn't get on stage but is pretty sure I can see her in the audience.
I did tune in to a tv show that got a Golden Globe as I wanted to see if it was worth watching. It was kind of cute. Called Jane the Virgin. There were quite a few shows nominated that I'd never even heard of before. Wish I could afford the premium channels.
I continue to dream about dogs. Last night it was several of them that were stuck outside in the snow and wanted in. One was even tied to my front fence (of the house I lived in as a child) but I was reluctant to take them in. It's so annoying when dreams don't let you do what you really want to.
Finally got back results of various "unmentionable tests" that I submitted to the hospital lab. All came back normal. Which means, I guess, that my ongoing problem might be gastro-related. Something is off, I know that much. I have a doctor appt with a specialist here in P.A. but not until Jan. 30. At 7:30 a.m. no less! Oh well....Have got to get to the bottom of this as it's interfering with my social life (what there is of it).
I've got to make a trip into P.T. one day this month to take my book around and see if I can't get it displayed in shops downtown. I do have it in a book store here in P.A. but not sure how much interest a book about PT will have for browsers. Maybe, though.....
My latest pics of Jacob in a morning email today.
I'm helping
Dad and I have a good time knocking down blocks.
Well, I'd best get back on the paperwork trail now.
