Early Rising

Well, here I am.....6 a.m. and at the computer. Woke up at 4:45 and ached all over so thought I'd finish sleeping in the recliner.  No luck, though. Finally gave it up a little after 5 and accepted the fact that there are going to be days when sleeping patterns go awry and I have to go with the flow. At least I know I can catch a nap if need be.

I was really tired last night. It was all I could do to sit up and watch Modern Family. Glad I did 'cause it made me laugh out loud several times. I headed to bed, read for about ten minutes, and was out like a light.  Sometimes you pick up on a shift in your body rhythm or whatever?  I've sensed a change for these past few months in my energy level slowly slipping down a notch.  I don't care for it either.  Hard to get my "to-do" list completed. Then again, I've noticed I don't always give a rip about that dang list!

Met up with the girls at the casino for Linda's birthday. When I emailed her later to ask if anybody had won money after I left, she told me she had a little bit, went into the bathroom, and managed to drop it onto the floor. Coins were rolling into other stalls but she didn't have to retrieve from the toilet. She did lose a couple dollars, though, and not sure where they went.    Wish I had been there. That sounds like something a really OLD LADY would do.  ha ha ha ha ha ha

She lent me a few old pictures from our clinic days and I'm wondering if that helped contribute to why my energy level took a nose dive. Time and life have beat up on my poor ole body and face.  It's always a little sad to see pictures of yourself when you were a whole lot thinner.  It has motivated me, however, to get on the diet track. Figured November 1 was just as good a time to start as any.  Here's us yesterday and a couple of me in the 70's & 80's. (I still can't seem to pose for pictures without looking like an idiot)

Here's one of me and John at a clinic Xmas party. Three were at Linda's wedding shower at Adelma Beach. That was the best dang party.  Sun was out, everyone was drinking wine (and getting silly) and pretty soon we were comparing bras.  I never shared mine but I laughed until my sides hurt.

One thing I especially like about Facebook is the pictures that people share.  I'm amazed every halloween at how clever costumes have become.  When I was a kid, you pretty much just had a mask and if you dressed up at all, it was as a ghost (with a sheet) or a bum. Simple stuff. You went trick or treating and once in a while, would get an invite to a party where you bobbed for apples.

Nowadays, the whole country (especially adults) are into halloween bigtime.  I looked at some of the pictures on Ellen's homepage and was fascinated with what people came up with. Here's Eva, a granddaughter of my cousin in Gig Harbor. She pushed a grocery cart full of plastic bags, put dirt on her face and was a homeless person.  (no bums anymore....just homeless people) hee hee Love her sign!
And here's some more of her grandkids...
I didn't get even one trick or treater last night, but then I turned out the lights and it was pouring down rain most of the time anyhow.  Did get a call from a friend in CA who wants a photo CD and one of my school books sent. She saw the ad in the PTHS alumni newsletter. Terrific newsletter, by the way. I was very much impressed.  I think you can see it on the PTHS webpage under alumni heading.

Well, time for a second cup of coffee. Got a couple errands to run this morning, a quilt to work on, and a Town Kid blog to write.  Good movie playing on TV right now.  1957 - All Mine to Give. I watched a really interesting show on raccoons last night on PBS Nature.  Amazing sometimes what TV can teach you.
