Busy weekend

Saw a few new sights this weekend.  Was nice to get out of town but it was even nicer to get back IN TOWN!  Seems like Port Angeles is at the end of the world a lot of the time as you have to travel so long to get where the action is.  Not that three hours is all that long but it is when you don't get out much.

I've always enjoyed the trip down Hoods Canal. Much easier on my nerves than I5.  Great Wolf is a fun place to take the kids.  And there were LOTS OF KIDS THERE TOO!  I like peaceful places more but then I am a granny, after all.  It was still fun to spend the weekend with three of my kids and all my grandkids.

The rooms were large and Mary and Andy rented one with a bedroom so I ended up staying in their room. Catie and I each had our own queen.  Jenni's room had two queens and a pull out so her and the three kids stayed there. (Hunter took a friend since Wayne couldn't make the trip this time)  Our rooms weren't side by side but close enough--ten doors down I think.

I actually went in the pool and bounced around a bit. Also went in the pool that has waves but I didn't care much for that as it was tossing me around like a big old marshmallow.  The kids tried to coax me into climbing four or five flights so I could get in a rubber raft, slide down a howling tornado of a winding water slide and then arrive at the bottom.  No way Jose!  With my luck I'd probably break a hip and they'd have to call 911.  I didn't see any other old ladies doing it either.

Was interesting to watch but you pretty much had to go in the water or you'd die from the humidity and heat in there.  I browsed the gift shops a bit, bought the grandkids things they probably didn't need, ordered a Starbucks iced drink, and bought jibbitz at the Croc Store. (little things that plug into the holes of Croc shoes.)

We went to dinner and a few of us received our meal in buckets. I had fish and chips.
The kids all received wolf ears when they ordered from the kids menu.

This is Hunter and Randy Smith--a funny kid who made us laugh a lot of the time. And here's our group shot.

Here's some views of the Lodge....

story time center where the trees and animals and a kid hiding in a tree talk each night at 8 pm to kids sitting in a circle. Look close to see the kids' head in the tree trunk.

Joe drove down for the day and treated the boys to arcade games for an hour or so. Here they are horsing around in the room.

Catie and I took the free shuttle bus over to Lucky Eagle Casino about ten miles away. Didn't have any luck but I was glad they had Keno. It was Catie's first time to gamble. I got to yakking with the bus driver and discovered he was from Ortonville, MN, the same place as my biological grandparents.

Jenni took me about 6 miles down the road on Sunday morning as I wanted to see Galvin, where my dad was born.  I took a bunch of pictures but will post them tomorrow. Here's two....

I didn't realize until today when I got on the computer that I was taking pictures outside an  old car museum. I even found a video on YouTube (Busek Auto Museum if you want to see it)

I just loved this old house.  And believe it or not, there was a For Sale sign nearby.  I wonder if that's where my grandparents lived.  Wouldn't that be something?!

When I got home, I went out in the backyard to water my "strip of lawn" that I put in a few days ago. Much to my delight, I've already got grass coming up.

Mr. Tractor Man returned this morning and worked for a few hours on the scotch broom. Still not done but I'm confident he'll return.
