On the Road

Woke up around 5 a.m. sensing a twinge of a foot cramp coming on.  Decided I just wasn't in the mood to play that game so I got up and started my day.  I settled in to work on my book a while and got a few pages written.  I often have to stop and research something or another as I type away and little lost memories float to the surface.  For the next three days I'll be happily typing and researching, only taking breaks now and again to maybe do some yard work, ride my bike, sew, read, and work a crossword puzzle. Perfect weekend!

I picked up the twins at noon and then we stopped to pick up Yvonne who agreed to ride with me. I hate car trips by myself.  We stopped at Jenni's bank so she could say goodbye to the kids. They were serving refreshments because Jenni is transferring to another bank next week.  Yvonne and I got a doughnut but I put mine aside to have tomorrow morning.

Traffic was heavy all the way to Bainbridge.  We got there a tad early so the kids hung out at the terminal for a half hour. I took their picture, said goodbye, and walked back up to the car.  Can't say I think much of the parking lot over there.  If you're wanting to drop off or pick up, the free spaces are a block uphill away from the terminal. They also have a sign saying the driver has to stay with the car. Yvonne stayed while I tramped downhill (with a full bladder) to get the kids inside the terminal. She said a guy came around right away to see if anyone was in the car.

This is the first time the kids are walking on the ferry by themselves. Catie will pick them up on the Seattle side.  Mary called me a couple hours later to see how the trip went and she said the twins are already enjoying themselves in Catie's pool at her apartment complex. Tomorrow they're going to Wild Waves and Saturday (among other things) they'll ride the big ferris wheel in downtown Seattle. Mary said she'd get pictures for my blog.

Yvonne and I debated about stopping at the casino for lunch and a little gambling but we opted instead for a fish sandwich at McDonalds with fries and a root beer.  Much easier on the pocketbook. The trip home is always so much faster and nicer.  We chatted and complained about life all the way back to Port Angeles . Stopped at a fruit stand set up in front of Goodwill and we both bought some Yakima cherries.

I got an email yesterday from a cousin (Chris Nisbet) who lives in Forest Grove, OR but is here in WA for a while going to optometrist school at Madigan. Anyhow, he had come across some history files on Lillian Blanchard Nisbet and sent me the links. Very interesting and I was able to see a picture of Lillian. (my grandmother)

Well, I see the bird feeder outside my window is empty thanks to that dang deer. I think I'll put in some seeds I don't think he likes. If he does eat them, I'll have to move the feeder to the back yard.
