My new camera

I finally broke down and bought myself another digital camera.  Nothing fancy. I just wanted to be able to take pictures without  the black spot showing up.  It had dirt under the lens and it would have been too expensive to send it in for cleaning. Easier to just buy a new one.  Well,  that's what I thought.  Come to find out, I chose one that you could only upload  your pictures to your computer via  WIFI.  I tried for days to figure out the directions and finally gave up in disgust!  I have WIFI  but I've never fully understand the concept.

Anyhow, I took it back and bought another brand.  $30 cheaper. This one  is a Nicon.   I'm still experimenting to see how to get the best photos.  Should I ever decide to go scuba diving, I can take it with me as it films underwater. And no, that's not going to happen.  I'm also supposed to be able to send an oral message with my picture.  Not sure how that works.  Last night I sat in my recliner and discovered various settings like night time, fireworks, food, closeup, neon, cartoon, bubble, double, and a bunch of others.

A sample....

I can see lots of fun ahead with this.

I started off my new year feeling kind of yucky.  Not sure I ever really got over that nasty flu bug I had at Christmas.  Anyhow, I hope my "problems" aren't an indication of what I can expect in the next few months.  My diagnosis could be IBS but I have yet to have it verified.  My mother and a cousin both suffer with Crohn's Disease so I suppose there's always that possibility too.

On the bright side, I don't have to have another shoulder surgery and for that, I am thankful.  Doctor says it could take a  year for my right shoulder to really heal good but I may never get it back to 100%.  Just so I don't fall down again.  That's my goal.  And I'm not giving up on my bicycle just yet either.  It's the only exercise I really like.  Well, I like walking but too often, my low back and hips don't agree.

Two birthdays this week:
My son-in-law, Wayne, is 46 today, shown below with his dad, Ed.
And tomorrow is my cousin, Jimmy, who lives in Vancouver. He'll be 67.

Saw a picture in the Leader yesterday of this 1930's saw.  Reminded me of one my grandpa built in the 1940's.

And here's a neat tip I got in an email a while back....

I had to take a lab test in the hospital last week and noticed a whole lot of construction going on at the west end.  Apparently, they're enlarging the ER.  Means even more parking spaces will disappear. It's always been a struggle to park at that facility.  Never enough parking spaces. They should have built the hospital at a place they could spread  out.

Drove in to the casino a couple days ago to have lunch with friends. I'm probably going to have to curtail my trips there for a while.  Budget just can't accommodate gambling and eating out too often.
Lewie, me, Linda, Joanne, John O.

Got a voicemail message yesterday from Karen Jovag saying her and Dick want to host the class picnic again. She's planned it for July 18 in Port Ludlow.

Not much on my agenda for January so far.  I'll keep busy with computer "stuff", sewing, scrabble online, jigsaw puzzles, crossword puzzles, knitting, reading, Netflix, and ancestry.  I probably should think about getting outside to walk too.  Let's hope I do more than just think about it.  Ha!

Watched a Red Box movie the other night that is up for a Golden Globe award.  It was pretty good. Called 'Boyhood'.  I always look forward to the Golden Globes.  This Sunday they start at 5 and rerun at 8.  I'll watch the early show so I can tune in to Downton Abbey.

Movies I'd like to see include Still Alice, Birdman, and The Theory of Everything.  A couple of others too.  Redbox used to charge $1 to rent and now they're up to $1.63 (with tax).  Still cheaper than walking into a movie house, though.

Jake got his first haircut last month.
